The Shoals is composed of Florence, Muscle Shoals, Tuscumbia, and Sheffield, each contributing their own personal flare and personality to the Shoals area. These cities follow along the Tennessee River which is cut out and up-lit from below. The pins represent the major roads that surround the area, and the roads that are traveled to get from one city to another. The cliffs represent what is seen from McFarland Park, the area that is seen when looking from Florence to Muscle Shoals, Tuscumbia, and Sheffield. The cutouts represent the major landmarks and important figures that are a part of the area. For example, the lion head and the fountain represent The University of North Alabama, the bridge represents the bridge from Florence to Muscle Shoals or the old railroad bridge, and the music notes represent FAME Recording Studios and Muscle Shoals Sound. Each of the items are then lit and the shadows reflect on the "cliffs," showing the individuality of the places, but also that they make up one area, The Shoals.
